Journey through the Old Testament

Do you find the Old Testament confusing and hard to read? Have you ever asked, "Why is the Old Testament even in my Bible" or "Is the God of the Old Testament the same as the God of the New Testament?" Do you wish you knew more about the Old Testament and had a grasp of its overall story?

This fall at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Roswell we will embark on a journey through the Old Testament. Join us as the Rev. Dr. Susan Pigott (Ph.D. in Old Testament) guides us over mountains of difficult texts, through valleys of varying interpretations, rivers of beautiful poetry, and fertile lands of ancient Israelite storytelling.

Beginning Wednesday, August 20 at 5:15pm in the St. Andrew's Parish Hall and by Zoom we will gather most Wednesdays from August through May (a schedule will be provided at our first meeting). Please contact the St. Andrew's Church Office (575) 622-1353 to sign up for the study. Participants may also purchase "An Overview of the Old Testament," an unpublished textbook written by Dr. Pigott for $15.00. Reserve your copy when you sign up.

All are welcome! Just bring an open mind, an inquisitive heart, and your favorite version of the Bible.

Grief Support

Walking the Mourner’s Path

Hope in the Desert in Albuquerque is hosting an 8-week grief ministry program: Walking the Mourners Path.  This is a compassionate ministry being offered in-person on Mondays from 2:00pm – 3:30pm for eight consecutive Mondays starting on September 8th, 2025.

This ministry is dedicated to walking alongside those who are navigating the difficult journey of grief, offering support, healing and hope.

We understand that grief is a deeply personal experience that requires gentle guidance and a caring community.  Our program is designed to provide a safe space where individuals can share their stories, connect with others who understand their pain, and find encouragement for the journey ahead.

The in-person workshops include thoughtful discussions, activities to honor those who have died, and moments of reflection-all led by caring facilitators who are there to support you.

If you’ve experienced a recent loss or struggle with a loss from long ago, please consider joining us for Walking the Mourners Path.  More information at frsteve@hopepiscopal.org

Healing the Brokenhearted

Healing the Brokenhearted is a six-week program designed to involve people who are somewhere in the grief process.  It was designed and is presented by The Rev. Jan Hosea from a wide variety of materials including:  Restoring Hope, by Rob Voyle, EfM materials, Godly Play, and a mixture of interactive and self-reflections activities.  Mother Jan has developed this program over 14 years learning from each presentation and evolving the activities. She has a deep interest and has worked with grieving people for many years.

We know that grief happens and according to Elizabeth Kubler-Ross is present for over 50% of our lives, yes, 50%!  That is a lot!  Understanding that we are grieving and learning what we can do to move out of grief cycle can be restorative.

We meet in-person Saturday mornings from 9:30am - 11:00 am September 6th - October 11th, (will not meet on October 4th) in the St. Mary’s Conference Room (in Albuquerque)

Registration is open to everyone; call (505-250-1610) or e-mail Mo. Jan.(motherjanhosea@gmail.com)
